Kate's 1st Art Project

I've promised this picture since before Christmas, so here it is. A picture of Kate's first finger painting. I wish I had pictures of her actually painting but I don't. Daycare has them though so maybe I'll get them someday.
Kate was not a fan of finger painting and cried. For those of you who are wondering how babies finger paint, they basically strip them down naked, lay them on their bellies and then dab their little hands in paint:)
Since the creation of this masterpiece, Kate has completed her second painting and enjoyed it much more.
Note: Every other baby's stocking was completely covered with red paint....I had to giggle when I saw hers....

So Christy and I were discussing my latest post and the search terms that show her blog on her reporting and this one just made my day:
'Emily Nessler Naked' hahaha! it was almost as good as 'belly pics - porn'...HA!

Stats on our blog

So I'm a dork and have google analytics tied to my blog. Basically I can keep track of how many visitors our blog has, how people are finding our blog etc. I haven't looked at them in a while and finally looked at them tonight. Here are some interesting facts...I'll also include some definitions for those of you that aren't techy:

-In 2008 we had 17,347 visits to our blog (self-explanatory)
-2,684 were unique visitors (meaning individual people....so if you visited 5 times this week you are only counted as one unique visitor and not 5) Which means I must be somewhat interesting if you people keep coming back for more....who would have thought....ha:)
-31ottercourt.blogspot.com (Christy's blog) was my top referring domain (aka of all the ways people found my blog, it was through her site)
-Someone from Singapore and someone from Spain visited our blog
-The following search terms brought up our blog (if you search these things in google/msn our blog would show up as one of the results). To further clarify, (because mom I know you're still wondering what the heck) Google crawls our blog and found relevant information pertaining to the users search and thus our blog shows up. So for instance if someone searches ultrasounds and I posted about ultrasounds my blog could show up. The report tells me what people searched and also how many times it was searched.

-'Fatherhood Commercial' (obviously from my post about the fatherhood commercial and how it reminded me of Jay. Our blog showed up a TON for this search and similar searches...actually if you search it in google it shows up #4 on the list....so weird)

-'what weeks start the 3rd trimester' (tons of pregnancy related searches point to our blog...this was the most common one...probably because the pregnancy calendar is so darn confusing)

-'lora magers' (actually quite a few people searched your name Lora and found our blog....creepy?? Ha)

-'20 week ultrasound picture of buttocks'

-'I peed my pants' (obviously from the story of how I peed my pants at Christy's...brings back fond memories:)

-'final belly twins - tanya' (This one is just weird)

-'one of her robes' (perhaps even weirder)

-'a 2 week old wiener dog'

-'apple bottom snow boots for newborns' (hahaha)

-'belly sexy' (I'm sure some dirty old man was disappointed to find my pregnant belly, ha!)

Randomness

Well I seem to be lacking important things to blog lately so here is just a random update on our lives.
-I am in desperate need of a tan and vacation....at this point either would do....I may need to get a spray tan. This never-ending cold weather is doing a number on my skin
-My new 'not let anything get to me' attitude is holding up pretty well. Only one meltdown I believe since the initiation of it.
-I have a love/hate relationship with pumping.....i love the benefits of free food for her and all the nutrition stuff but hate that I have to constantly worry about where I'll be when I need to pump. Although the weight loss benefits of pumping are almost enticing enough to keep me going for the next 10 years. I'm probably the lightest I've been since I was 12 (ok maybe not 12)...not tone at all but we can't have it all
-Kate is catching up with my milk supply....we may need to introduce rice cereal soon. I was holding off because really, its just going to make things more difficult (a bottle is so much easier) and there is no rush....I would like to keep her a baby for as long as possible and she will grow fast enough on her own
-Speaking of which she is a rolling machine
-Did I mention I'm ready for spring? Walks and fresh spring rains...can't wait
-I'm compiling a list of things I want to do with Kate - sounds dorky but then I'll make sure I don't miss out. On the list so far: trip to the zoo, state fair, swimming at spring lake...and many more
-Since I've started this post I've replaced her nuk 10 times since she went to bed
-Make that 13...finally had to rock her to sleep...nothing better than her falling asleep on my shoulder:)
-I can't get enough of Jon & Kate Plus 8 lately....8 kids actually looks like a lot of fun, choatic, but fun. Although its hard enough picking up after 1, can't imagine 8
And on that note I better pick up a bit while she's sleeping.

Happy Inauguration

Kate celebrating a new president while rocking her Obama onesie from Auntie Em and Uncle Chris! What an exciting day....whether you voted for him or not, you must admit its very cool at how excited people are about politics for once and frankly....it can only go up from here. Here's to a brighter future:)

4 months

Alas I finally got the time to update:)

Kate is a little over 4 months now. She is turning into quite the little lady. Here is what Kate is up to these days:
-Giggles a ton
-Chewing and drooling on everything
-Rolling machine (somehow mastered the back to tummy the best even though it seems more difficult)
-Loves to squeal and babble
-Sleeping pretty good through the night....typically only wakes up once to feed if at all
-Sits by herself for a tiny bit (not much though)
-Still loving daycare (I will post a picture of her finger painting masterpiece in another post)
-Loves to play with toys now... - loves to play her bongos from Auntie Em
-Has a sweeeeeet bald spot on the back of her head (mullet still in tact though....)
-Have been told numerous times 'what a peanut she is'.....see below, she is growing:)

Also, we went to the doctor this past week for her 4 month checkup. She did great with the shots, cried a little but calmed down pretty quickly. Here are her stats (again with past stats for reference):
4 Month checkup:
Weight: 13 lbs. 4 oz (43rd percentile)
Length: 24 1/2" (61st percentile)
Head: 16" (42nd percentile)


2 month checkup:
Weight: 11 lb. 7 oz. (68th percentile)
Length: 22 1/4" (47th percentile)
Head: 15" (34th percentile)

2 week checkup:
Weight: 7 lbs. 10 oz. (25th percentile)

Length: 19.5 inches (25th percentile)

Head size: I can't remember the exact measurement but it fell in the 25th percentile

Birth:

Weight: 6 lbs. 13 oz.

Length: 20 inches

And a special little treat for all of you...this 'beautiful' sweater was discovered while we were cleaning out Jay's closet to make more room for Kate's clothes (she has a ton)...anyways, if you want to borrow it for an ugly sweater party, call me.

Bad blogger

I am ashamed an embarrassed it has been over a week since I have last posted....and I call myself a blogger.
But I kind of have an excuse as my computer was in being fixed for a few days and I've been home alone with Kate for pretty much the last two weeks as Jay has been reffing pretty much every night...

I promise a new post this weekend.

Kate had her 4 month checkup so I'll report on that and also post new pictures.

Rolling, rolling, rolling

Kate is rolling! Last week Jay saw Kate roll from her stomach to her back....of course I missed it and she hasn't done it since. Well tonight I laid her in her crib to go to bed and when i went back to check on her to see if she was sleeping she was on her tummy! So i flipped her back to her back and she rolled right away again to her tummy...yea!

Our little girl is growing up....Kate goes in for her 4 month checkup next week and can't wait to see how she's grown....but I'm already dreading the shots:(

Hopefully we can catch 'the roll' on video and also her new giggle attacks and will post.

Chubby Cupcake - Kate's favorite song

So at a mere 4 months old Kate already has a favorite song....it seems to get her to stop crying and she becomes mesmerized when I sing it (I am not nearly as entertaining singing it as the chubby boy below). This youtube video will definitely brighten your day:)
