The Nessler household has been a sick one. I came down with something on Monday and finally was starting to get over it on Thursday....then,

Wednesday night Kate started coming down with something. She stayed home from daycare Thursday and by Thursday night she had a high fever and was screaming until about midnight. She also was super congested and coughing like crazy.

So Friday morning I kept her home from daycare again and eventually took her in as RSV and pink eye were both going around daycare....well she was clear of both of those but has an ear infection. Which would explain why she screamed every time we tried to lay her down. She's now on meds so hopefully will be doing better. She screamed last night as well for a while so hopefully tonight is better. We've been doing lots of cuddling which is always nice.

But now Jay is sick.....hopefully its the end of it all. Enjoy the rest of your weekend and stay healthy.

My girly girl

Kate has fallen in love with my jewelry (actually anything that is mine, food, phone, etc). Tonight she and Auntie Em played with my accessories while I rested. I came down with an awful cold yesterday and today I felt like absolute thanks Em for watching her for a bit. I swear its more than a cold...I feel like I have some 3rd world disease as I ache everywhere. Anyhoo, here are some pics of Kate and my jewels.

Hmmm...what will go best with my headband?

Caught red-handed!

A green beaded bracelet to complete the look

Rice Cereal

Kate finally started rice cereal. We've been doing it for about a week now and she seems to be indifferent about it....neither hates it nor loves it but by the looks/smell of it, you wouldn't be excited either.
We're slowly thickening it up (the first tasting was like breastmilk on a spoon) and perhaps will experiment with a few fruits or veggies....maybe I'll wait for 6 months for that.

Also, Kate is now partially drinking formula. She was catching up with me so fast that I had to start supplementing so that I could get ahead (why I don't just quit, i sometimes wonder, ugh) but she seems to be liking that as well.

I don't know if its the formula or the rice cereal but she's been sleeping good at night as well. I think she's slept through the night for the past week or so (like 8-8....nice!)

Anyhoo, here's a few pictures from the first rice cereal feeding. I promise to become a better blogger as well. I'm redoing our bedroom sometime here in the near future so I'll post some pics of that.
Have a great weekend!

What is this thing....

The tongue that often protests the spoon....

Bubbles/spitting...its her new thing....however paired with eating, not so much fun

The hawk, it has a mind of its own

Cousin Liam Thomas has arrived

Welcome cousin Liam Thomas!! Andy and Christine had a baby boy yesterday!
He was 8 lbs. and 20.5 inches long. He looks a lot like Max but with dark hair. Here are some pictures of the cutie:)

Hard to believe only 5.5 months and 5.5 pounds separate the two...

Kate's Painting Continued

I posted the actual artwork a while back but here are some of the actual painting pictures that daycare just shared with me:)

Angry clenched fists....

This was an emotional piece of art...

And finally...pure despair

No photos please....

This weekend the weather was actually quite nice so we decided to bundle Kate up and take her for a walk. Her coat is adorable, however, she is much like the kid on 'A Christmas Story' and can't move once she is in it. Also, it was bright so we had to put on her new shades....God I love having a of my favorite pastimes:)

5 months old

Kate is now 5 months old. She is so much fun these days. Here's what she's up to:
-Still rolling
-Loves to blow bubbles and spit
-Sits on her own for a short amount of time
-Still drinking just milk but might introduce rice cereal in the next week or so
-Loves to play in her exersaucer
-Also loves to jump in her jumper
-Gets super excited when she sees us now....kicks like crazy and 'hugs' us and tries to eat our faces
So much fun!
-Such a daddy's girl....smiles for him constantly. This could be trouble later on in life.
-Still jabbering and giggling
-Just growing so fast and getting bigger and 'sturdier' as the days go on...
Here are some pics:

I swear over half the pictures we take have this face or some other funny face.....

My child has crazy hair....

Ever since birth, Kate has had crazy hair....I don't think I need to remind you of the mullet (still in tact) and then there was the mohawk, and as of late it is just sheer craziness. We have invested in a wide array of hair accessories to tame this wild head of hair. The bows and clips are a struggle for Jay still though and I have to laugh because each day he tries and tries to do her hair and each day I come home to a bow laying on the bed....a sign of defeat:)

Today when I picked her up from daycare she was sitting in a bumbo chair near a vent and her hair was blowing/flapping in the wind....and jay forgot to brush it so it was standing straight up but had this weird wave to it. I hope people don't think she's homeless....:)

Here is a recent picture of Kate and her hair:
