State Tournament

Its been a tradition with Jay's family to go to the state boys basketball tournament each year. We stay in a hotel and we get a suite at the Target Center. We also do some shopping and its a good time. This year was exciting because Mankato West made it to the tournament. They ended up getting 2nd place. Here are some pictures from our weekend.

And finally, Kate's new swing....

On a sad note, today is the last day of my furlough so back to work I go tomorrow. I think I can already feel myself getting sick just thinking about work...boo...I'll need to plan another vacation so I have something to look forward to. Have a good week!

Making friends

The other day, daycare sent these pictures of Kate and her friend Max at daycare. What cuties:) To think I was sad about having to take her to daycare....she loves the ladies there, is making new friends and learning more than I could probably ever teach her....I'm sure I could teach her lots but you know what I mean:)

Kate and I are enjoying our week home together during my furlough. Not much on the docket today....doing some cleaning while she naps and then will probably stay in and play as it is quite rainy and cold.

She speaks!

Well I go away for the weekend and I come back and what do I find....Kate can now say dada!
Its quite cute:) Also, it appears she has learned to wave as well.

I always thought she was a daddy's girl and now this confirms it...I was feeling a little crushed that she didn't say my name first but i guess I'm fine with her hollering his name in the middle of the night and not mine:)

Busy weekend!

This weekend was quite busy for the Nesslers. Saturday morning I packed up and headed to St. Cloud for the women's state volleyball tournament. Our team took first in pool play on Saturday and then ended up taking third on Sunday. Woo hoo! It was a great time on Saturday night and it was the first time I had gone out in a looong time.....its actually a wonder how we played as well as we did on Sunday considering all the drinks that were consumed. It was a great time with a great bunch of gals!

So since I was gone, Jay and Kate had the weekend all to themselves. And boy did they have a busy weekend. By the time I arrived at St. Cloud they had already had lunch at the Tav, gone shopping and bought a new spring jacket for Kate as well as a new swimsuit and coverup....ha (so adorable). Then they spent some time with Jay's relatives and called it a night.

Today they got up bright and early to drive to the cities to get Kate's pictures taken by our good friend Jen. Will post them as soon as I see them....can't wait!

Well I'm now home and exhausted to say the least BUT I only have 5 MORE DAYS until my furlough!!! Woo hoo! For those of you who don't know what a furlough is, basically my work is making each of us take a week off unpaid. Sucks that we're not getting paid but I am desperately needing a break from work and am looking forward to a week off. Also I'll get to spend some quality time with baby kates so that will be great.

Have a great week!

PS - LOVE THIS NEW WEATHER!!! Snow is melting, sun is shining, summer is right around the corner!

6 month checkup

Today I brought Kate in for her 6th month checkup. Her development is right on track. She's sitting really good by herself these days so that makes playing a lot more fun and she seems a tad bit more self sufficient now....as self sufficient as a 6th month old can be.

Here are her stats...of course with some past stats for reference.

6 month checkup:
Weight: 14 lbs. 11 oz. (25th percentile)
Length: 25 inches" (25th percentile)
Head: 17" (72nd percentile)

4 Month checkup:
Weight: 13 lbs. 4 oz (43rd percentile)
Length: 24 1/2" (61st percentile)
Head: 16" (42nd percentile)

2 month checkup:
Weight: 11 lb. 7 oz. (68th percentile)
Length: 22 1/4" (47th percentile)
Head: 15" (34th percentile)

Birth:
Weight: 6 lbs. 13 oz.
Length: 20 inches

They said she must have been measured her length wrong at her 4 month checkup as there was such a drastic difference from 4 to 6 months in percentiles....so they said she is pretty little (which we knew) but nothing to be concerned about and they'll just continue to watch and make sure she continues to grow. Her head doesn't seem to be lacking in the growing department and as jay put it she's like a balloon...a big head on a little body:)

Here are some cute pictures from Sunday with Kate in her Sunday best!

Possibly my new favorite outfit

Slinky, slinky....everyone wants a slinky....apparently not Kate though

oooooo - now I get it!

I'll have you know this slinky cost me 30 tickets at Happy Joes
So probably a good 5 dollars...

Playdate for Kate

On Saturday, Kate and I ventured to New Prague to have a playdate with Avery and Jen and Jen's friend Amy and her daughter Orelia. Orelia is only a few days older than Kate and Avery about a year and a half.

It was fun to watch the girls interact and they were very intrigued with one another!
Thanks for passing on the pictures Amy and we'll have to do this again soon....it was lots of fun.

Let's read a book new friend

Busted

Kisses for Kate from sweet Orelia

All the girlies...Avery wasn't quite sure what to think of these babies stealing her toys
but she was a good sport:)

6 months old

Kate is 6 months old today! Hard to believe a half a year has already gone by. I know everyone says having a child changes your life but not only does it change it, it enhances more than you can ever imagine. Jay and I look forward to every day with her and its amazing how you can be having the worst day and just seeing her little face makes it all better. She makes me a better person and makes me find joy in the simplest things:)

Little chubbers is now a whopping 14 pounds 10 oz. A little petite bean still, but growing:)

She now gets super excited when she sees us and she attacks my face. Love it.

Kate is still eating rice cereal but really hasn't been too interested in solids. We've tried sweet potatoes and she seemed to like those...today we tried peas. I should have taped it. She was gagging from the taste. I tried them and they weren't too bad so we'll continue to try them and hopefully will take a liking to them. We can't have her being picky like her father...I need someone to eat chinese with!!

I almost feel like i need to get Jay to start eating veggies to because how am I going to convince her to eat them when her dad won't even touch them. When we introduce bananas, I'm calling you Em:) (Emily has this freakishly weird fear of bananas and gags if they are even in the room....ha)

On the movement front, Kate now loves to jump in her jumper. Still is rolling. Sits pretty much on her own. Kind of pushes herself up on her knees when on her tummy. Loves to kick and flail her arms when she's excited.

No teeth yet but chews on everything. Also has been sucking her thumb lately.

Other than that, waiting for warmer weather so we can go on walks and head to ball games.
Here are some pictures from the last week or so. Hair is definitely getting lighter and longer....which makes it a little easier to style.

Showing off her latest artwork...

My little petunia picklebottom:)

Pebbles/cindy lou hoo chillin on her boppy
Ignore the industrial looking background...middle of bedroom remodel
pictures of that to come hopefully this weekend when we finish

Jay or me?? I'm actually getting some people who now say she looks like me...

Attacking the camera...she's a techi girl like her mom. Loves my blackberry too.

The bean and auntie em

Fishhook her!!!
